Sieve Analysis (Coarse Aggregate)
IS 2386 (Part 1)
Coarse aggregate is sieved through a stack of standard sieves (typically 40 mm down to 4.75 mm, selected to suit the nominal maximum size) to determine the grading curve and confirm it meets the limits in IS 383 for the specified nominal size.
Correct grading reduces void content in the compacted aggregate, which directly improves the workability and economy of the concrete mix that uses it.
