Steel Reinforcement Testing
IS 1608 / IS 1786
Steel is the most common material in RCC work. It has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any construction material, so it can provide larger spans and more usable space with smaller sections compared with concrete alone.
We test tension and bending on a universal testing machine per IS 1608, determining yield stress, ultimate tensile strength and percentage elongation against the grade specified in IS 1786 (e.g. Fe 500, Fe 500D, Fe 550D).
Tests in this category
Tensile Strength Test on Reinforcement Bars
Ultimate tensile strength of a reinforcement bar pulled to failure on a universal testing machine.
IS 1608Yield Stress of Reinforcement Bars
Stress at which a reinforcement bar begins to deform plastically under tension.
IS 1608Percentage Elongation of Reinforcement Bars
Ductility measure: the permanent increase in gauge length after a bar fractures in tension.
